More people start to work from home each year as it becomes harder to get jobs in the offline job market. Working from home, online or not, provides opportunities that can appeal to the numbers of people who might not be able to get as good an income otherwise. From eight-year old bloggers to 63-year old grandfathers, there are jobs that they can do and earn good money from.
While online work can be lucrative for many, there are some pitfalls that more than a few who start a work from home life encounter. These mistakes could cause people to lose money instead of accumulating it, and many people fail to succeed because of them.
1. Joining too many money making programs
Of course, you’re enthusiastic about starting to work from home, but you need to pick and choose the sites or the programs that you join. If you become a member of too many freelance sites, or sign up for too many affiliate programs, your time and energy would be spread thin promoting yourself on all of them. Multiple sources of income might seem like a good idea, but you can get more money and build up more of a reputation faster when you pick a few and stick to them.
2. Applying for low paying jobs
Online work traverses the globe, and you can find jobs that are paying $1-$2 an hour that are snapped up quickly. If you know you’re good at what you do, why sign up to be an affiliate that earns 5% commission when you know you can earn at least 40%, why apply for a job paying $5 an hour when your skills can net you $15 an hour? Never shortchange yourself.
3. SCAMS
When you see ads that offer to net you a thousand in three days, you can be sure that they are scams. Working from home online requires as much work and determination as many office jobs. It’s not a quick and easy scheme.
I’ve been around long enough to know what works and what doesn’t. If you’d like to get a jump start on working from home, drop me a line and start succeeding now.

Whether online or off, there is quite a bit of money to be made from sales. Of course, a sustainable business that derives from selling products is easier to set up on the internet, and maybe more lucrative as you are able to reach a larger audience. Many people choose to have both online as well as brick-and-mortar versions of their business.
On the internet, there are marketplace platforms like eBay and Amazon that will take any kinds of products. There are also sites for various arts and crafts like Etsy, Threadless, and more. You can sell anything on the internet, but if you are looking to set up a sales business that will accrue profits for a long time while you work from home, you’re going to need the proper planning and tools.
First, decide what kind of products you are going to sell. You should know that there are products that sell better offline and others that sell better online. Then you need to decide the sources for your products. Will you make what you sell or resell other people’s products? If you make your own products, you have to be sure that you have a steady stream of interesting inventory for your customers. Reselling is easier on the hours.
Next, you’ll need to determine how you are going to sell your products. Will you use marketplace sites like eBay or Etsy, or will you create your own website? Creating your own website is easier for branding, and in the long run will be excellent for your business, but it is easier to set up shop in the many marketplace sites on the internet. Of course, there is also the option of affiliate marketing, where you get a commission from selling other people’s products. It’s different from reselling, as you do not buy the actual product, but only advertise it.
The internet has, in the course of a decade or so, become one of the major realms for business, and opportunities arise nearly every day. Opportunities are there, ask me about what you are interested in and I will point you in the right direction!
